-We are out of tissues again! If you wouldn't mind sending us a box, we would be very grateful!
-Monday (4/3) is Opening Day! Students are encouraged to wear their baseball gear (including hats)!
-Our second field trip is planned for Wednesday, April 26th. We will be walking next door to the Butler Tech farm. This is a FREE field trip, but permission is still required. A permission slip went home last week. Please return it ASAP. If you would like to chaperone, please indicate it on the permission slip. There is no chaperone limit this time!
-Moms, mark your calendars for 2:30 on Thursday, May 11th! Our annual Mother's Day Poet-Tea will be that afternoon. It's a special event you won't want to miss. More information will be coming as we draw closer to the date!
This week we will be learning...
Math: We will be spending time this week reviewing how to tell time on an analog clock. We will review telling time to the hour, half hour, quarter hour, and five-minute interval.
Word Study: We have completed our study of spelling patterns for the year! This week we will be learning about possessive nouns during our word study time.
Reading: To prepare for watching Charlotte's Web on Friday and comparing/contrasting the movie and the book, we will finish up reading the story. Many students are enjoying following along with copies of the book as we read it in class!
Writing: Our study of poetry continues! This week we will be learning about different types of figurative language to experiment with (i.e. simile/metaphor, alliteration, personification, onomatopoeia, and hyperbole). We will also be learning how to write compare/contrast poems and wonder poems.
Science: We will learn more about how living things which once lived on Earth no longer exist, but were something like others that are alive today. We will consider which things scientists can learn from fossils, and which things they cannot.
Poetry: Our poem for the week is called, "Spring."
Since this will be my last update until after spring break, I wish everyone rest, relaxation, and fun times with family. Fingers crossed for some nice April weather!
