This week we will be learning...
Math: We will continue practicing identifying and counting coins, and we will study number combinations with two and three addends to make 10. (ex. 5+5=10, 2+8=10, 2+2+6=10)
Reading: We will be talking this week about characters, character traits, and why characters are important to a text. We will be reading the story Wemberly Worried by Kevin Henkes and discussing which character traits best define timid Wemberly as she tackles the challenge of her first day of school. We will also consider what Wemberly is thinking and feeling, and how this influences her actions.
Writing: We will continue our study of Growing Writers by learning about more ideas for writing topics--pets, dreams, and future plans. We will also learn how to plan our writing before beginning work on our first personal narratives! Additionally, we will be spending a few minutes of our writing time each day to share our t-shirt projects!
Word Study: This week we will still be assessing the reading, writing, and spelling of sight words.
Social Studies: We will continue practicing effective discussion techniques and learning about how to be accountable in conversations (responding, listening, asking questions, agreeing, disagreeing, etc.).
Poetry: Our poem this week is called, "Eat the Alphabet."
Have a great week!
