This week we will be learning...
Word Study: Our spelling patterns for the week are cr, cl, fl, and fr. Our sight words are: goes, write, always, drink, once
Math: We are starting Unit 2 where we will be studying shapes and symmetry. This week we will be identifying names and attributes of 2-D and 3-D shapes.
Reading: Growing Readers know how to set realistic goals for improvement. This week we will be learning about what a goal is and how to set goals which are attainable.
Writing: We are continuing to draft our personal narratives. This week we will learn how to write an ending that provides a sense of closure. Authors choose to use many different types of endings: happy endings, surprise endings, and reflective endings--just to name a few!
Science: This week we will be studying seeds and the way their shape helps them to travel to the best places to grow. We will be going on a "Sock Walk" to mimic the way seeds sometimes stick to animals in the wild. Hopefully, seeds will stick to our socks and we will be able to collect them and examine them closely! (Many thanks to all who sent in socks for this activity. We will be placing adult socks over our shoes to walk outside, so don't worry...no yucky socks will be coming home!)
Poetry: Our poem this week is called, "Who Has Seen the Wind?"
Happy (almost) October!
