There is NO HOMEWORK due this week, however, students who completed the reading log over break will need to turn it in on Tuesday to receive their special prize!
Our unified arts schedule has switched for the second half of the year. For the rest of the year, our schedule is as follows:
Monday: Art
Tuesday: Music
Wednesday: P.E.
Thursday: STEAM
Friday: P.E.
Report cards will be sent home on Friday (1/6/15). Please remove the report card from the envelope, sign the envelope, and return it to school ASAP.
Looking ahead, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 16th in honor of MLK Day.
This week we will be learning...
Math: We will begin our ninth unit of study in math: "Numbers to 1,000." This week we will focus on deepening our understanding of hundreds and how many hundreds go into 1,000.
Reading: We will be learning about main idea and practicing determining the main idea of a nonfiction text. We will also be looking at the focus of specific paragraphs which support the main idea within a text.
Writing: We finished our nonfiction writing before the break, so now we're ready for our next writing unit: Opinion Writing! We will begin this unit by learning about what an opinion is and discussing how to be persuasive when you want someone to accept or agree with your opinion.
Word Study: This week we will be learning about collective nouns. A collective noun is a collection of things taken as a whole. Examples of collective nouns are: group, audience, family, team, herd, flock, pack, etc.
Science/Social Studies: We will be catching up on some Scholastic News.
Poetry: Our poem this week is called, "Good Night, Juma"
