Our Box Top collection continues through Friday. Please keep sending them in!
Looking ahead, spring conference dates are quickly approaching. They will be held the evenings of Tuesday, February 10th and Thursday, March 26th. Spring conferences are an opportunity for us to meet face-to-face to discuss questions or concerns you may have. I will be available both these evenings if you would like to request a conference. I am also able to share information about your child's progress via phone or email. If you would like to schedule a face-to-face conference, or if you would like an update on our child's progress via phone or email, please let me know!
There is NO SCHOOL for students Friday, February 13th or Monday, February 16th.
The second grade music performance will be held the evening of Tuesday, February 24th at 7:00. More information to come!
This week we will be learning...
Math: We will continue to build strategies for how to add and subtract larger numbers with regrouping.
Reading: What is main idea? We will spend this week reading nonfiction texts and determining their main ideas, as well as the main ideas of specific paragraphs within the texts.
Writing: We have completed our animal research projects and will be moving on to a short unit on blogging. We will learn what it means to blog and why people do it, and we will be doing some blogging of our own!
Word Study: Our spelling patterns for the week are short a and long a with silent e.
Science: Leading up to Groundhog Day, we will be learning about shadows and how they are made.
Poetry: Our poem for the week is called, "The Vacuum Cleaner's Revenge."
Have another great (chilly) week!
