Here's what we have coming up:
* Week of May 6 - 2nd grade takes the Terra Nova
This week, we will be working on test-taking skills and doing some review to help us prepare for the Terra Nova. Testing will take place in the morning, Monday-Thursday, May 6, 7, 8, and 9. It will be especially important for students to come to school on time and well-rested, so that they can do their best!
* May 10 - Mother's Day Poet-Tea
(Please return your RSVP as soon as possible!)
* May 21st - Field Day (12:30-2:30)
* May 23 or May 24 Awards Assembly
(Our assembly will be on one of the two days...we just don't know which one yet.)
* May 27 - Memorial Day
* May 29 - Last day of school
The list is dwindling!
I sent home a letter on Friday explaining that Screen-Free Night, which was scheduled for this coming Thursday, has been canceled. There weren't enough families able to participate, however, the letter includes some activities you can still do in honor of Screen-Free Week.
Our FINAL homework assignment of the year is due this Friday!
This week we will be learning...
Math: We will be reviewing arrays, graphing skills, double and triple digit addition with regrouping, and missing addend problems to help us prepare to do our best on the Terra Nova.
Reading and Writing: Our Mother's Day Poet-Tea is fast-approaching! We are working diligently to compile our poetry portfolios so that we're ready to share our best work on Friday, May 10th!
Poetry: Our poem this week is called, "Backyard Bubbles."
Word Study: Our final spelling test of the year will be on Friday! For this week, we are reviewing long-vowel patterns. Our sight words are: every, pretty, jump, green, four
Science: We have learned about what makes plants living things, what plants need to survive, and the different parts of plants. Now we are conducting an experiment to see what we've learned about first-hand. We have planted four different types of seeds (wildflowers, spearmint, basil, and great northern beans), and we're hoping they sprout for us this week!
Enjoy this week!
