This week is special, because Tuesday marks the 100th day of school! We will be doing a number of fun activities to celebrate. If students would like to bring a 100-piece-snack on Tuesday (i.e. 100 Goldfish crackers, 100 M&M's, etc.), that would be great! While counting out the 100-piece-snack, students can practice counting by groups (2's, 5's, 10's) to make the job more speedy. :)
Additionally, parent-teacher-conferences are Tuesday evening. If you would like to request a conference, but haven't done so yet, please sign-up using the Google Doc:

If you would prefer to hear about benchmark scores via phone or email, that's fine too. Send me an email to let me know your preference!
This week we will be learning...
Math: We will continue looking at relationships between numbers as we develop our understanding of repeated addition concepts as they apply to multiplication:
Reading: We are beginning our unit on fairy/folk tales! This week, we will be comparing and contrasting five different versions of the same fairy tale: Cinderella!
Writing: We are beginning our unit on persuasive/opinion writing. In order to be persuasive, you have to know what you want (your opinion), who you need to convince (your audience), and how you're going to do the convincing (your reasons). You have to understand these things thoroughly before you can be truly persuasive. Watch out, parents! :)
Poetry: Our poem this week is called, "On Monday I Feel Like a Dragon."
Word Study: Our spelling patterns for the week are short e (pet), long ee (feet), long ea (beach), and short ea (bread).
Social Studies: We will continue our work on map skills.
Have a spring-like week, and enjoy the few days of warmer temperatures! (Rain, rain, go away! Come again another day!)
