-This Thursday, April 28th we will be taking our walking field trip next door to the Butler Tech farm! Our class is set to go during the 11:00-12:15 time slot. All students will need to wear their class t-shirts and pack their lunches on this day. We will depart from the school around 10:45. If you signed up to chaperone, please plan to meet our class in the rotunda at 10:40.
*In the event of rain, we will go at the same time on Friday instead.
-Moms, mark your calendars for Thursday, May 5th! Our annual Mother's Day Poet-Tea will be that afternoon from 2:30-3:15. It's a special event you won't want to miss. Please return your RSVP as soon as possible so I can plan for snacks!
-There is NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, May 6th due to a teacher in-service day.
-The week of May 16th-20th we will be participating in Camp What-a-Wonder! Throughout the year, we have explored a “wonder of the day” through the website Wonderopolis.org. Camp What-a-Wonder is a chance for us to extend this learning. We will be incorporating reading, writing, math, science, and social studies for a fun-filled week of hands on activities. We are asking for your donation of the items we will need. If you would like to send something in, please sign up by following the link below. In addition to the items listed on the sign up sheet, we are also in need of MANY toilet paper and paper towel tubes!
-Our field day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17th from 9:00-11:10! This will be another day when students will need to wear their class t-shirts.
-On Wednesday, May 18th, we will be visited by some local police officers and their K9 partners! They will be here to teach us about summer safety.
-Our end-of-the-year awards assembly is scheduled for the morning of Monday, May 23rd.
-The last day of school for students is Wednesday, May 25th!
This week we will be learning...
Word Study: Our spelling patterns for the week are oo, ew, eu, and ui. Our sight words are: tree, near, seem, high, hat
Math: Our measurement unit continues. We will be learning about different tools we can use for different types of measurements.
Reading: In addition to continuing to read The One and Only Ivan, we will be learning about reflective pronouns. Reflective pronouns are words that refer back to the subject in a sentence (i.e. myself, himself, herself, yourself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves).
Writing: We are working diligently to prepare for next week's Poet Tea! This week we will be assembling our poetry portfolios so they are ready to share!
Science/Social Studies: We will be using our science/social studies time to catch up on some Scholastic News.
*The homework assignment which is due on Friday is the FINAL HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT of the year!
