We have some important events coming up:
*This week is Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. In honor of Red Ribbon Week, we will have a special theme for each day:
Monday: Pass out ribbons!
Tuesday: Hat Day! Hats off to being drug and bully free!
Wednesday: Silly Socks Day! Walk away from drugs and bullies!
Thursday: Orange Day! Unite against drugs and bullies!
Friday: Team Spirit Day! Team up against drugs and bullying!
*The PTO is selling Harvest Grams Tuesday-Friday. Students can purchase Harvest Grams for 25 cents each and send notes with candy to their friends!
*Thursday the Children's Theatre of Cincinnati will be joining us for a special performance of Hansel and Gretel in our auditorium!
"Something mysterious is happening in the woods, and Hansel and Gretel are hot on the trail. This musical romp features a strange old lady in the woods who happens to be part giant, part ogre, part elf and part troll. Could she be a witch too? Follow our sleuths as they sing, dance, and discover the hidden truth about the dear old lady in that gingerbread cottage!"
*Looking a little further ahead, there is NO SCHOOL for students on Tuesday, November 4th!
This week we will be learning...
Math: We are very good at counting by 1s... but this isn't always the most efficient way to count! This week we will be practicing counting large quantities by 2s, 5s, and 10s.
Reading: Our study of nonfiction begins as we look closely at nonfiction text features and how they can add to and help us understand what we're reading.
Writing: Students will complete their How-To procedures this week by working with partners to revise, edit, and publish!
Word Study: Our spelling patterns this week are thr and shr.
Science: Our study of force and motion continues as we explore magnets and their interesting abilities!
Poetry: Our poem this week is called "The Fieldmouse."
Have a spooktacular week!
