-In celebration of National Pet Day all this week will be pet week with a PAWS donation drive. PAWS Adoption Center is a no-kill, non-profit animal shelter in Monroe. They are dedicated to providing care and shelter for unwanted dogs and cats and placing them in a loving home. We will be collecting items (listed below) for PAWS all week long. Please only send the items listed below to school for the drive. Thanks for your generosity!

-This Wednesday, April 26th we will be taking our walking field trip next door to the Butler Tech farm! Our class is set to go during the 11:00-12:15 time slot. All students will need to wear their class t-shirts and pack their lunches on this day. We will depart from the school around 10:45. If you signed up to chaperone, please plan to meet our class in the rotunda at 10:40.
*In the event of rain, we will go at the same time on Thursday instead.
-Moms, mark your calendars for Thursday, May 11th! Our annual Mother's Day Poet-Tea will be that afternoon from 2:30-3:30. It's a special event you won't want to miss. Please return your RSVP as soon as possible so I can plan for snacks!
-There is NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, May 12th due to a teacher in-service day.
-Our field day is scheduled for Monday, May 15th from 9:30-11:40! This will be another day when students will need to wear their class t-shirts.
-Our end-of-the-year awards assembly is scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, May 23rd at 9:00.
-The last day of school for students is Thursday, May 25th! There is an EARLY DISMISSAL. Students will be dismissed at 1:15!
This week we will be learning...
Math: We will spend time this week reviewing our strategies for double and triple-digit addition.
Word Study: We will be learning about reflexive pronouns. Reflexive pronouns are words that refer back to the subject in a sentence (i.e. myself, himself, herself, yourself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves).
Reading: We will continue reading The One and Only Ivan and taking careful notes about the new things we learn about the main characters.
Writing: We are working diligently to prepare for the Poet Tea! This week we will be drafting more poems to add to our poetry portfolios.
Social Studies: We will be learning about goods and services, consumers and producers, and needs and wants.
Poetry: Our poem for the week is called "Keep a Poem in Your Pocket."
