Believe it or not, we are out of tissues again! If you'd be willing to send us a box, it would be very much appreciated! Many thanks to everyone who has already sent a box in.
The second conference evening is this Tuesday, March 7th. Spring conferences are an opportunity for us to meet face-to-face to discuss questions or concerns you may have. I still have many openings available on this evening if you would like to request a conference. Please contact me to schedule a time.
March 9th is the end of third quarter. Report cards will be sent home on Friday, March 17th.
There is NO homework due this week!
There is NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, March 10th.
Our field trip to La Comedia is coming up on March 21st! More information will come as we get closer.
This week we will be learning...
Math: We will wrap up our study of measurement and begin our fourteenth unit: "Graphs and Data." During this unit, we will be learning about different types of graphs and how to interpret them.
Word Study: We are taking a break from spelling patterns this week to learn about irregular plurals (i.e. foot-->feet, mouse-->mice).
Reading: As a follow-up to our study of fairy tales, fables, and folktales, this week we will be reading versions of the story of Cinderella from different cultures. We will look at common themes in these stories, as well as consider how they are different from each other.
Writing: We are wrapping up persuasive writing! Published drafts will be coming home soon. We have some pretty convincing authors in our class, and many of them wrote to you (the parents), so consider yourselves warned. You might find yourselves giving in to some requests!
Science/Social Studies: We will be taking time to catch up on some Scholastic News!
Poetry: Our poem this week is called, "Chatterbox, The Rain."
Enjoy the week!
